What is medical negligence?

Medical negligence happens when a medical professional fails to deliver the expected standard of care. This can happen at any time during the medical process; from an initial consultation with a GP to receiving ongoing treatment or undergoing surgery. Whatever the circumstances, if you have been let down or left suffering due to negligent care, you may be entitled to make a claim. As experts with over 25 years in medical negligence we will discuss your individual circumstances to get a full picture of your case. Find out more about medical negligence here.

How much compensation could I claim against a Bristol hospital or GP?

According to a recent report, Bristol hospitals pay £13 million a year in negligence insurance costs (source: Bristol Post). The amount of compensation you are rewarded depends on the various factors,; including the complexity and severity of your injury or experience. In order to qualify for a compensation claim, it must first be proven that medical negligence did occur, and that it was specifically this negligence which caused a worsening of your condition that was otherwise avoidable.
Every case is different which means the amount of compensation will be too. In some cases, the nature of the injury or injuries can be complex and progressive. Our client was awarded £22,500 from University Hospital’s Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust after her baby suffered a brain injury during his birth. Our client then went on to develop a depressive disorder as a result of the trauma. At Patient Claim Line we work hard to understand every detail of your case to ensure we get the maximum compensation you are owed.

Sarah's Story

"Now we have peace of mind"

My husband, Nick, went back and forth to the doctors for a long time and tried everything the doctor recommended. But his illness got worse, to the point that he was in agony.

In the end we got so desperate that we asked for a referral. The doctor was reluctant, so we had to consult a private hospital. That’s when we found out there was a tumour. It took years from the onset of his illness to finally start cancer treatment.

He used to be a man with a lot to live for, but in the end he was in so much pain that he withdrew from the family. He became angry that nobody had helped him sooner, and the legal team were able to give him the validation that he was desperately seeking. The NHS confirmed if they had done more, Nick would still be alive today.
