It couldn't be easier – Rob Rinder investigates the claims process
It's all about your peace of mind
Throughout the whole of the process, from the first call to the end of the case, we are all about providing you with peace of mind.
The peace of mind to know that your team is fighting to discover the truth about what happened, that they are the best at ensuring you are fully compensated and that your claim is in safe hands. We will be with you every step of the way.
Peace of mind also needs to extend to the claims process as well. Many people who have suffered are put off pursuing a claim because they are worried about legal costs and being left out of pocket. If you have suffered from medical negligence, it may already be a stressful time, and worrying about legal costs and fees may be one worry too many.
That’s why at Patient Claim Line, we always work on a no win no fee basis. It’s probably a phrase you have heard a lot, but it basically means exactly that. If you pursue your claim with us, and the claim is not successful, then you walk away without having to pay us a penny.
What’s more, we offer our customers free full risk insurance which covers all the other costs involved in a claim, such as medical records, medical reports, etc.
By choosing Patient Claim Line, you are guaranteed peace of mind in all areas, at all times. It costs you nothing to find out if you have a claim and even if you don’t have a case, at least you will have asked the question and found out, and it will not have cost you anything. That’s a promise.
Here’s how we can help you know for sure
Initial enquiry
The first thing we do is listen. Our team is fully trained to ask the right questions to ensure that our specialist legal teams can quickly advise if you have a case. Our legal experts can answer any questions you may have and we always speak in plain English.
All calls are dealt with in the strictest of confidence. We deal with 1000s of calls every month from people with all sorts of problems, so chances are we will have spoken to someone in a similar situation to you. .
Case acceptance
Dealing with a company that specialises in Medical Negligence gives you the peace of mind to know that the specialist legal team assessing your case has the experience and knowledge to give you the absolute best chance of having your case taken on. We aim to get back to you very quickly with a decision either way, and we will always explain our reasoning.
Medical records
If your case is accepted, the usual next step is to apply for your medical records so that we can see exactly what happened and piece together the dates and timeline of events that led to your medical mistake. We request all of your records for you and will pay any charges on your behalf.
Medical evidence
The next stage is to obtain an independent medical report to comment on what happened. We will arrange this for you at a time and place convenient to you.
Something is considered negligent in law when an independent doctor or medical professional with similar experience believes that the actions of that person fell well short of the expected standard. This report assesses that. On the basis that the independent doctor feels there has been negligence, we will also get evidence on your injuries and the impact the medical mistake has had on your life.
Negotiation
Once we have all the evidence, we will negotiate with the negligent party (often the NHS) to recover any out of pocket losses, rehabilitation costs and compensation.
A legal team that is experienced in Medical Law is essential at this time, because they need the confidence to go toe to toe with such institutions, who will often start out by denying anything went wrong.
Compensation
The job of our legal team is to get you the best possible settlement in your case. Compensation includes all out of pocket expenses, loss of earnings, any potential private treatment costs to put things right, rehabilitation costs and compensation for your injuries and the impact they have had on your day-to-day life.
