Initial enquiry

The first thing we do is listen. Our team is fully trained to ask the right questions to ensure that our legal teams can quickly advise if you have a case. Our legal experts can answer any questions you may have and we always speak in plain English.

Case acceptance

Medical records

If your case is accepted, the usual next step is to apply for your medical records so that we can see exactly what happened and piece together the dates and timeline of events that led to your medical mistake. We request all of your records for you and will pay any charges on your behalf.

Medical evidence

The next stage is to obtain an independent medical report to comment on what happened. We will arrange this for you at a time and place convenient to you.

Something is considered negligent in law when an independent doctor or medical professional with similar experience believes that the actions of that person fell well short of the expected standard. This report assesses that. On the basis that the independent doctor feels there has been negligence, we will also get evidence on your injuries and the impact the medical mistake has had on your life.

Negotiation

Once we have all the evidence, we will negotiate with the negligent party (often the NHS) to recover any out of pocket losses, rehabilitation costs and compensation.

A legal team that is experienced in Medical Law is essential at this time, because they need the confidence to go toe to toe with such institutions, who will often start out by denying anything went wrong.

Compensation

The job of our legal team is to get you the best possible settlement in your case. Clinical negligence claim

My case is still going on, so all I can say so far is I'm very happy with the service I've received. My claim is for possible clinical negligence; I contacted 2 other lawyers before I found patient claimline. I found the other lawyers I contacted were a bit reluctant to commit to my case. One took 3 months to tell me what we need to do is write a letter of complaint on your behalf and neither law firm I contacted would give me a definite answer on whether they would take my case on a no win no fee basis. At patient claimline things seemed different from the start; first they took a very detailed history of what happened. A few days after, a lawyer who wanted to take my case contacted me. I agreed to a conditional funding agreement and the lawyer took insurance on my behalf that insured the costs if the claim is unsuccessful. The lawyer they provided, gives me confidence, that we will win my case. They have committed money to obtain the medical records and they seem to have a good process in place to manage my claim. It is hard to find a good lawyer, but I think patient claim line have done it.
