What is medical negligence?

Medical negligence happens when a medical professional fails to deliver the expected standard of care. This can happen at any time during the medical process; from an initial consultation with a GP to receiving ongoing treatment or undergoing surgery. Whatever the circumstances, if you have been let down or left suffering due to negligent care, you may be entitled to make a claim. As experts with a combined experience of more than 400 years in medical negligence, we will discuss your individual circumstances to ensure the right course of action for you. How much compensation could I claim against a Birmingham hospital or GP?

Statistics show that up to £83 billion could be owed in medical negligence claims nationwide, with the NHS receiving up to 10,000 new claims each year. Every case is different and this means compensation figures can vary from a few thousand up to millions of pounds. In order for a claim to be successful, your legal team must be able to prove that medical negligence did occur and that it was this negligence specifically which led to you suffering avoidable pain, injury or life-changing consequences. Hannah Ashcroft, Senior Solicitor at Patient Claim Line, brought six years of legal battles to a close with an £85,000 pay out for her client.
Ultimately, the level of compensation relieson various factors, including the long term implications of your injury. When the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham operated on the wrong part of our client’s breast to remove a Grade II cancer, she was awarded £8,000, which accurately reflected her physical and emotional suffering. At Patient Claim Line, we work hard on your behalf to ensure you receive the right amount of compensation for your circumstances.

Vincent and Family

"Now Vincent’s future is secure"

It took maybe four or five years backwards and forwards to an audiology department to try and get some assessment for his hearing. However the audiology department constantly said he was difficult to test and that there was nothing wrong.

We asked for another test and Vincent was actually profoundly deaf in both ears. That period between Vincent being 2 when we first picked out there was a problem up to having cochlears fitted age 7, he missed out on all that sound input, which were obviously important years for his speech and development.

Since the claim, we’ve had superb access to specialists and it’s helped close that gap down to make Vincent’s life a little bit easier. Patient Claim Line helped us secure Vincent a very positive future.
