Trevor Ward

Trevor is a highly respected solicitor with nearly four decades of experience handling complex and catastrophic clinical negligence claims. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has secured multi-million-pound settlements for clients across a wide array of high-severity cases.

He currently serves as the Chief Assessor for the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel, having been involved with the panel as an assessor since its creation in 1994. Trevor is also a member—and former Chair—of FOCIS (the Forum of Complex Injury Solicitors) and a Fellow of APIL (the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers).

Trevor has led several notable and influential cases, including the PTSD group action against the Ministry of Defence and the Thompstone group of cases concerning the indexation of periodical payment orders. His work frequently involves close collaboration with leading Counsel and top medical experts.

His caseload spans matters valued from £100,000 to in excess of £23 million. Trevor has represented clients in birth injury mediations and has secured numerous transformative settlements for vulnerable individuals and their families.

In recognition of this work, Trevor and his team received the 2023 Case of the Year award at the Personal Injury Awards for a significant birth injury liability trial.

Notable Cases 

• Astley v Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 2023. Liability birth injury trial. This case won the prestigious Case of the Year award at the 2023 National Personal Injury Awards.  

• ABX v Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. Trevor acted on behalf of a family involving a birth injury case which began in 2012. This case settled with a full valuation in excess of £5m.  

• ABX v Bristol & Weston at University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust claim value estimated at £20M.  

• A highly complex birth injury case, acting for a family. Achieved settlement approval for £15M following High Court mediation. 

• Saeed v GP : £10.5 M settlement for meningitis claim.
