Francesca Paul is a Partner at Fletchers Solicitors and a lead lawyer in the firm’s renowned Group Actions team. She brings extensive experience in complex group litigation, with a particular focus on medical negligence.

Highly regarded for her strategic approach and deep legal knowledge, Francesca is known not just for the breadth of the cases she leads, but for the compassion and commitment she shows to each client. While her cases often involve large numbers of affected individuals, Francesca believes in seeing the person behind every claim- listening to their experiences, understanding their goals, and working tirelessly to achieve the justice they deserve.

Francesca began her career in Nottingham, where she represented individuals who had suffered abuse while in local authority care. She played a key role in actions against Nottinghamshire County Council, advocating for survivors of abuse at Beechwood Community Home and other children’s homes across the East Midlands and London. Her work extended to representing clients in the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA), and she notably acted on behalf of the claimant in the landmark Supreme Court case Armes v Nottinghamshire County Council, which established the vicarious liability of local authorities for the actions of foster parents.

Since joining Fletchers, Francesca has focused exclusively on complex clinical negligence group claims. She leads several high-profile actions, including:

• Representing over 100 patients treated by Mr Jeremy Parker, an orthopaedic surgeon now struck off by the GMC
• Leading claims involving the defective EyeCee One intraocular lens
• Representing families affected by failings in maternity care in Nottingham and Homerton
• Bringing claims against ophthalmic services at New Cross
• Acting for patients treated by spinal surgeon Mr John Bradley Williamson
• Representing survivors of abuse by Dr Iuliu Stan
