Francesca Paul is a Partner and a leading lawyer within our Group Actions team, bringing substantial expertise in large-scale, complex litigation, particularly within the field of medical negligence.

Recognised for her strategic insight and extensive legal capability, Francesca is valued not only for the variety of cases she manages but also for the empathy and dedication she shows to every individual she represents. Even in high-volume actions, she prioritises understanding each client’s personal story, their objectives, and the outcomes that matter most to them, ensuring they feel heard, supported and fiercely advocated for.

Francesca began her legal career in Nottingham, where she represented individuals who had experienced abuse while in the care of local authorities. She played a major role in claims against Nottinghamshire County Council, supporting survivors from Beechwood Community Home and various children’s homes across the East Midlands and London. Her work also involved representing clients before the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA). Notably, she acted for the claimant in the Supreme Court case Armes v Nottinghamshire County Council, which confirmed that local authorities can be held vicariously liable for the actions of foster parents—a landmark ruling.

Since joining our firm, Francesca has dedicated her practice to high-profile clinical negligence group actions. She leads multiple significant investigations and claims, including:

• Acting for more than 100 patients treated by orthopaedic surgeon Mr Jeremy Parker, who has since been removed from the GMC register

• Leading claims relating to the defective EyeCee One intraocular lens

• Representing families impacted by failures in maternity services in Nottingham and Homerton

• Bringing actions concerning ophthalmic treatment at New Cross

• Representing patients treated by spinal surgeon Mr John Bradley Williamson

• Supporting survivors of abuse by Dr Iuliu Stan
