Emma Harpur – Senior Medical Lawyer

I try to keep my work and life balance as even as possible. Planning my wedding and commuting two hours each day makes it hard for me to have down time with my family but I always try to set time aside – especially at the weekend – to do activities with my stepchildren and fiancé. I am looking forward to starting a new family chapter within married life!

Coming from a close family, my brother, sister and I have always understood the importance of family. We were always encouraged to work hard and respect people. They are values that remain with me to this day.

Lucy Fletcher – Senior Medical Lawyer

I have a young son and daughter and it is important to me to spend as much time as possible with my children whilst maintaining a working life and progressing my career.

I have worked part-time since returning from maternity leave after my first child. This allows me to spend as much time with my children as I can whilst they are growing up, whilst continuing my career as well. Helping clients is a big part of my life and not something I would like to give up.

My life outside work also revolves heavily around my children; I am chair of my son’s school’s PTA and recently became a parent-governor of the school. Juggling these activities with work requires a lot of organisation! Fortunately being a lawyer requires good organisational skills, so it’s something that comes naturally to me.

Family is what it is all about at the end of the day. Spending the time with my young family motivates me to come to work and help others.
